Rappelz Reference Guide

Introduction to Rappelz
Rappelz is an in-depth free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game. In this
Fantasy based world players choose from three races the Deva, Gaia, and Asura each representing
Creation, Earth, and Destruction respectively.
The major features of Rappelz are the in-depth Pet System, Player ownable Dungeons,
rideable mounts, an in-game auction house, and beautiful graphics and music.

The Character Stats
Strength: Increases Physical Attack Power, and Max Carry Weight
Vitality: Increases HP, and Physical Defense
Dexterity: Increases Accuracy, and Physical Attack Power when using Bows
Agility: Increases Evasion
Intelligence: Increases MP, and Magical Attack Power
Wisdom: Increases, Magical Accuracy, Magical Defense, and Magical Resistance
Luck: Increases Critical Rate

The Pet System
One of the main features of Rappelz is its in-depth pet system. Players are able to obtain empty pet
cards which they can use to attempt to tame creatures, allowing them to use these captured creatures
as pets.

Pets have multiple forms or evolutions. Each evolution of a pet has a distinct appearance and offers
new abilities to the pets. If a player uses a pet that is significantly higher level than they are then the pet
becomes weaker. This is so a low level player with a very high level pet is not extremely overpowered.
Also, pets will only gain experience when they are lower in level than their owner. Therefore, a level 52
pet on a level 50 player will not gain any more experience until the owner reaches level 53.

How to Capture a Creature
1. The player needs an empty pet card.
2. The player needs to find an appropriate creature to capture. The card will list the names of
appropriate creatures and the level range those creatures should be.
3. The player needs to use the taming skill on the creature. The creature must be at full hitpoints
or this will not work. The creature will then attack the player at this point.
4. When the player kills the creature the taming will either succeed or fail. Success depends on
many things including the taming skill of the player, and the rarity level of the pet.

How to Form a Creature
In-order to summon a captured creature it must first be formed.

1. The player needs to have the creature handling skill. The higher this skill is the greater the
number of creature slots the player has. The number of creature slots determines the number
of creatures a player can have formed at one time.
2. Open the creature formation window (Alt + Y). The user can double click on a tamed pet card in
their inventory to equip the card in a free slot. The user can also drag the tamed card from their
inventory into an available slot.
3. The creature is now formed.

How to Summon a Creature
1. The player needs to have the creature they want to summon in their creature formation.
2. The player must select the creature they want to summon. This is done by opening the creature
window (ALT+R). This small window shows the creatures that the player has formed. The user
should then click on the creature they want to summon. The selected creature will have a blue
square surrounding their icon.
3. The player then uses the Summon Creature skill to summon their formed pet.

How to Equip your Creature
Your Pets have two slots available to wear equipment. Your pet can only wear equipment of the
appropriate rank.
To prepare a piece of equipment for your pet to wear, you must combine it with a unit card. Unit cards
can be bought from merchant NPCs. All combinations of items must be done in the Combination
Window, which can be accessed from your inventory screen.
If at any time you wish to make the equipment useable by a player you must combine it with a Chalk of
Restoration. This chalk is available at merchant NPCs and it detaches the equipment from the unit card,
destroying the unit card in the process. Rappelz Reference Guide Pg. 7
Version 0.9 – Rappelz Epic 4
Your pet cannot wear two of the same type of equipment. For example it cannot wear two body
armors, or two weapons.
Remember to upgrade your pet’s equipment as you would upgrade your own.

Overbreeding and Pet Levels

If you have a summoned pet it will gain experience and levels with you. As your pet gains levels it gains
stats and job points. The pet’s job points can be spent on skills for the pet, just as your job points can be
spent on skills for you. Your pet gains one job point per level.
Each pet has three stages of evolution. At each stage your pet has a different appearance. At higher
stages of evolution more powerful skills become available.
You may evolve your pet from evolution 1 to evolution 2 at pet level 50. You may evolve your pet from
evolution 2 to evolution 3 at level 100.
You may choose to overbreed your pet rather than evolve it right away. Overbreeding is leveling your
pet up for a few levels rather than evolving it right away. The reason why you might want to overbreed
your pet is your pet gains 2 jp per level during these overbreed levels, plus special skills are only
available if your pet is overbred. If you want the most powerful pet possible with the highest possible
stats then you should overbreed your pets as much as possible.
You may not overbreed your pets indefinitely. The levels you gain Overbreed are at levels 51 – 60 for
evolution 1 and at levels 101 – 115 for evolution 2. In addition you must evolve your pet to evolution 2
at level 60, as your pet can never reach level 61 as evolution 1. You also must evolve your pet to
evolution 3 at level 115 because an evolution 2 pet can never reach level 116.
You may evolve your pet at a tamer/breeder NPC in any major town. Talk to this NPC and select the
Creature Evolution option.
You may not undo an evolution.

Rappelz Reference Guide Pg. 8
Version 0.9 – Rappelz Epic 4
Taming FAQs and Tips
 The more rare and powerful a creature is, the harder it is to tame. Very rare or powerful
creatures will be extremely hard to tame, even for experts at taming.
 All pet cards of the same type have the same chance of success, e.g. all Blue Pixie cards have the
same chance of success. There are not different versions of each card.
 You can only tame creatures of the specific name that are listed on the Pet Card. Select the card
in your inventory and then hover over it with your mouse to reveal a tooltip that lists the
necessary mob names.
 Please be careful when having someone tame for you. There are many people who would love
to steal your pet cards! Ask for references, be sure they are in a reputable guild, make sure they
are in your party, etc. A good way to ensure you get back your pet is to ask for something of
equal value. That way if they do try and steal it, you have something they want back.
 When equipping a pet into your formation, its level relative to your own will make a difference
in its stats. For example, if your character is level 50 and has two of the same pet, one at level 50
and one at level 150, the stats will be quite different. Make sure to consider this before
buying/trading pets for your use.

Sieging Rules
An in-depth guide about sieging & time attacks can be found here.
  1. Dungeon Exploitation- It's important that players refrain from exploiting any discovered flaws, especially during sieges. Reports that provide adequate evidence that someone is 'intently' exploiting the game will be investigated thoroughly.
  2. Multiple Sieges - Any attempts to use the same character in multiple sieges per weekend will be considered an exploit. You can siege multiple times with different characters.
  3. Dungeon Monopolies- Do not funnel revenue from multiple dungeons into one guild. Dungeons are for everyone, not a select few. Since there are only a few sieges per week, we cannot tolerate a guild that is using subordinate guilds to own multiple dungeons.

Rappelz PvP Rules

Table of Contents
  1. Introduction
  2. How PvP Works
  3. Portal Player Killing
  4. PvP Harassment

1. Introduction
Player versus Player (PvP) interactions make up a large portion of what Rappelz is about. No matter what server you play on, this will be one of the most gratifying & challenging aspects you will participate in.

2. How PvP Works:
Below are the PvP game physics that govern both PvE & PvP servers.

General PK System
  1. To Fight: PK mode must be on to attack players.
  2. Self-Defense: If someone attacks you, you can attack them back even if your PK mode is off.
  3. Red Names: Players who have red names can be attacked by anyone, even when their PK mode is off.
  4. Safe Areas: Town areas prohibit any PKing within them.
Immorality System
  1. IP: Immorality Points accumulate every time you PKon.
  2. Criminal Acts: Killing someone who is PKoff, or more than 10 levels below you, will grant a large amount of IP.
  3. Red Names: Players with red names have a lot of IP.
  4. Repentance: You lose IP by killing monsters your level or higher, by dying, or by donating items to alters that are found in towns.
Normal PvE Server
  1. Death: You do not lose experience or items if PK'd.
  2. Wrath: Gaining more & more IP gives you increasing levels of Wrath, which reduces your defense, attack power, & move speed.
Hardcore PvP Server
  1. Death: You may lose experience & items if PK'd. Having PK mode on, or lots of IP, will increase the chances of these happening.
  2. Criminal Acts: Items will not drop if the PKer is over 10 levels above the victim.
  3. Cash Shop: Items from the 'Premium' tab in the Cash Shop will never drop.
  4. Lak Guard : Your lak is automatically consumed when you're PK'd to reduce exp loss and chance to drop items.
    1. Your experience loss can be reduced by up to 100% and your item drop rate reduced by up to 50%.
    2. Lak consumed is based on your level, IP, & the level difference between you and your killer.
    3. Your killer gains 75% of the Lak.
    4. If you die to a monster, all of the Lak from the Lak Guard disappears.

3. Portal Player Killing
We do not condone the killing of players near dungeon entrances. Even more so, we will not tolerate players who take advantage of these areas to kill others as they warp into, or out of, a dungeon.

  1. Offenders
    1. Don't let accidents happen. Turn PKoff when near a dungeon entrance. We will not excuse players who 'accidentally' killed someone.
  2. Victims
    1. Don't lie. If you were not PK'd while loading at a dungeon entrance, don't try to get the player in trouble by claiming you did. We will know & you could be punished for e-mailing us a false report.
    2. All portals inside Palmir Dungeon are fair game, except for the entrance portal. We will not punish players for PKing others near the 33 other portals.

4. PvP Harassment
We do not condone the act of constantly PKing someone, or a specific group, without any verifiable & legitimate reason, to the point that they are just about unable to play without being PK'd.

  1. Offender
    1. Taking screen shots of why you've decided to repeatedly PK someone might save you from punishment.
  2. Victim
    1. We will only act in extreme cases. Wasting Cash Shop Items due to a PKer is not extreme.
    2. If you know a PKer is around, you need to try avoiding them. If they continuously hunt you down, no matter where in the world you can go to escape them, you may want to report them.

About Rappelz

An Introduction to Rappelz

Rappelz is a relatively new MMORPG, following the success of massively popular games such as WoW. It was first released in November 2006. Since then there have been five expansions, the latest being Epic V (released June 2008). The major difference with Rappelz is that it is a free game to download, but just as challenging and exciting.

Rappelz is set within a medieval fantasy world that hosts three competing races; The Deva (Guardians of Light), the Asura (Servants of the Dark), and the Gaia (Protectors of Nature). The common RPG premise of leveling as you gain in-game experience and build up your characters applies as a core challenge to Rappelz aswell. To help guide you through the game, there are hundreds of quests to carry out - which you can tackle along with other online players by forming quest groups. Like WoW, you can also have a pet that also has the ability to level up.

Rappelz - The Scenario

The world was being kept in order by the two elements, creation and extinction. There were two gods who were in charge of those two elements that were more respected and trusted than other gods. They thought the human race was too ignorant to develop its own civilization so they sent the Deva and Asura to assist the human race. The Deva represented lightness and the Asura represented darkness.

After some ups and downs, the Gaia (human beings) became settled.

Tragically, the Gaia became unsettled when a woman who called herself ‘the witch’ appeared. She disapproved of the sanctity that had been handed down from ancient times and claimed that the history of the Gaia had been distorted. She cried out that her words were true and that the Gaia should listen to her. Many people followed her words like religious fanatics, which in turn, put the Gaia into chaos. She was so powerful that the Gaia, Deva, and Asura had to put their strength together in order to fight her. And in the end, she was captured and burned alive.

Years later…

There was a suspicion that number of followers of the witch’s words started to increase again. Some people among the Gaia began to make an attempt to find out if what the witch had said was true.
